Even though The Miller County Pirates have not done well against the Mitchell County Eagles recently (they were 1-8 in their previous nine matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Friday. Miller County claimed a resounding 41-0 win over Mitchell County at home. The high flying offensive effort was a huge turnaround for Miller County's 12-point performance the matchup before.
Miller County was led to victory by Tj Grant and JP Powell. Grant rushed for 141 yards and two touchdowns on only 12 carries, while Powell rushed for 131 yards and three touchdowns on only nine carries.
Miller County's win was their third straight at home, bumping their overall record up to 4-4. Admittedly, the team didn't face the toughest opposition across those games, namely Mitchell County, Terrell County, and Sneads. As for Mitchell County, they still haven't won a game yet this season and fell to 1-8.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Miller County has the luxury of staying home another week and will welcome Baconton Charter at 7:30 p.m. on October 27th. Baconton Charter is coming into the matchup on a five-game losing streak. As for Mitchell County, they will look to defend their home field on Friday against Randolph-Clay at 7:30 p.m. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Georgia (Randolph-Clay is ranked 393rd, while Mitchell County is ranked 400th).
