This season hasn't been kind to the Innovation Montessori Panthers, who are still winless after their fifth game. They fell 60-49 to Calvary Chapel Academy on Thursday. Innovation Montessori found out winning isn't easy when you don't work as a unit and post seven fewer assists than your opponent.
Innovation Montessori's lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Yahve Fernandez Nunez, who scored 2 points along with 4 steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Khalid Imran, who scored 5 points along with 11 rebounds and 4 blocks.
Leading Calvary Chapel Academy to victory were Kaleb Steiger and Noah Bolen. Steiger scored 11 points along with 8 rebounds and 4 steals, while Bolen scored 20 points along with 7 steals and 5 rebounds. Bolen continues to roll, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played. Another player making a difference was Ryan Adema, who scored 14 points along with 3 steals.
Innovation Montessori bumped their record down to 0-5 with that loss, which was their fourth straight on the road. As for Calvary Chapel Academy, their victory bumped their record up to 1-4.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Innovation Montessori is on the road again on Friday and play against Orangewood Christian at 6:00 p.m. on December 8th. As for Calvary Chapel Academy, they will challenge Cocoa Beach at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Cocoa Beach is coming into the game hot, having won their last four games.
