The Brandeis Broncos had to endure a four-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. They secured a 73-68 W over Marshall on Wednesday. Given Brandeis' advantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 399th, while Marshall is ranked 857th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Brandeis' success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Trevor Short led the charge by dropping a double-double on 18 points and 14 rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Lincoln Philyaw, who dropped a double-double on 15 points and 11 rebounds.
Brandeis' win bumped their record up to 11-13. As for Marshall, they have not been sharp recently, as they've lost ten of their last 11 contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-18 record this season.
Brandeis will head out on the road to face off against Lee at 11:30 a.m. on Saturday. Lee has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 186 points over their last three contests. As for Marshall, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Clark at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. Hopefully Clark focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 16 last Tuesday.
