Basketball Recap: Jefferson Davis Academy Turns Things Around After Road Loss

There's no place like home for Jefferson Davis Academy, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Friday. It was close, but they ultimately received the gift of a 69-67 victory from a begrudging Raiders squad. With that win, they brought their scoring average up to 51.5 points per game.

Nasir Void continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, dropping a double-double on 29 points and 20 boards. Those 29 points gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Colson Loadholt, who dropped a double-double on 15 points and ten rebounds.

Jefferson Davis Academy smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 30 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 14 offensive rebounds in seven consecutive matches dating back to last season.

Community Christian Academy's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Colton Betosky, who posted 27 points. That was a full 40.3% of Community Christian Academy's points, marking the third time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Ethan Quarles, who had 20 points.

Jefferson Davis Academy's victory was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 5-1. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 52.8 points per game. As for Community Christian Academy, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-5.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Jefferson Davis Academy and Andrew Jackson Academy will compete for holiday cheer at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. Andrew Jackson Academy is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 73.1 points per game this season. As for Community Christian Academy, they won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Step of Faith Christian Academy at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Community Christian Academy also hasn't been messing around on offense: they've averaged 53.3 points per game.
