After flying high against the Mariner Marauders on Wednesday, the Cedarcrest Red Wolves came back down to earth. Cedarcrest fell just short of Monroe by a score of 43-41. Cedarcrest lost against Monroe in their previous head to head back in December of 2022, too, but the margin this time around was much wider than the 50-42 score last time.
Despite the loss, Cedarcrest saw an underclassman step up: Kiki Anderson scored 22 points along with seven rebounds and four blocks. Anderson scored a full 53.7% of Cedarcrest's points, the fourth time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points. Laine Mckenzie was another key contributor, scoring ten points along with seven rebounds and four steals.
Cedarcrest struggled to get the ball back on offense and finished the game with only three offensive rebounds. That's the fewest offensive rebounds they've managed all season.
Cedarcrest's defeat dropped their record down to 1-6. As for Monroe, their victory ended a four-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 4-4.
Cedarcrest will face off against Marysville-Pilchuck at 7:15 p.m. on Wednesday. Monroe will be home for the holidays to greet Cascade at 7:15 p.m. on Tuesday.
