Maple Mountain has gone a perfect 4-0 against Cedar Valley recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Tuesday. The Golden Eagles will head out to take on the Aviators at 3:30 p.m. One thing working in Maple Mountain's favor is that they have posted at least ten runs in their last three games.
While Maple Mountain didn't have the best season last year (they finished 11-15), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past. Everything went their way against Brighton on Monday as they made off with a 16-3 victory. The result was nothing new for the Golden Eagles, who have now won eight matchups by six runs or more so far this season.
Gracie Jensen made a splash no matter where she played. On the mound, she pitched six innings while giving up three earned runs off nine hits. She has been consistent : she hasn't given up more than two walks in eight consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 1-for-5 with one home run and three RBI.
In other batting news, Carly Erickson was a standout: she went a perfect 4-for-4 with three runs, four RBI, and two doubles. She continues to improve, besting her previous point total in each of the last three games she's played. Izzie Groneman was another key player, going 2-for-5 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs.
Maple Mountain kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 17 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least ten hits in three consecutive contests.
Meanwhile, Cedar Valley fell victim to Mountain Ridge and their airtight pitching crew last Friday. They came up short against the Sentinels, falling 15-0. Having soared to a lofty 11 runs in the game before, the Aviators' shutout was a dramatic turnaround.
This is the second loss in a row for Cedar Valley and nudges their season record down to 11-5. As for Maple Mountain, their record now sits at 10-2.
Both the two teams just can't seem to miss. Maple Mountain has been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 12.9 hits per game. However, it's not like Cedar Valley struggles in that department as they've been averaging only 5.6 hits. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Maple Mountain came out on top in a nail-biter against Cedar Valley in their previous meeting back in May of 2024, sneaking past 9-7. Do the Golden Eagles have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Aviators turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
