Ryan Weaver and Dennis Mullen provided fans with a highlight when they connected against West Carteret. The longest such play in 3A/2A Northeastern Coastal this season, the connection resulted in 74 yards.
Holmes extended the longest winning streak in the league this week by beating Louisburg, 56-8. The victory was the 11th in a row for the team.
Hertford County's dynamic duo of Weaver and Jquwan Ruffin proved tough for the Patriots to stop, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week. Weaver threw for 244 yards and three touchdowns and Ruffin had 110 yards receiving. Dorrien Askew helped Hertford County's passing attack out by catching two balls for 84 yards.
Landon Leithauser made the biggest impact on defense this week as First Flight fell to Kinston. The 5-foot-8 junior pulled down one interception.
Wyatt Robertson was the most productive running back in the league this week. He ran for 225 yards on 28 carries as the Night Hawks beat West Carteret. Alex Monaco also contributed to the rushing game with 38 yards on the ground.
First Flight's offense has been unstoppable this season and the Night Hawks feature the season leaders in passing, rushing and receiving yards. Nathan Parker has thrown for 880 yards and 10 touchdowns this season, while Billy Foster has 29 catches for 554 yards. Robertson leads the league in rushing with 1364 yards.
The top two defenses in the league will face off this season when Holmes takes on Northeastern. Bob Turner's team has allowed 140 points this season, while the Eagles have given up 153.
