Basketball Recap: Clear Lake Takes Loss Despite Strong Efforts from Kirsten Lippold and Marley Auttonberry

Clear Lake lost against Dickinson back in December of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Thursday. The Clear Lake Falcons fell 61-52 to the Dickinson Gators. While losing is never fun, the Falcons can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 535th, while the Gators are ranked 88th).

Marley Auttonberry and Kirsten Lippold certainly did their best on Thursday to avoid the loss. Auttonberry made all 6 shots she took to post 20 points and seven rebounds, while Lippold dropped a double-double on 21 points and 14 boards. Those 21 points gave Lippold a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Carmen Evans, who posted ten points and three steals.

Even though they lost, Clear Lake smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 11 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive boards in six consecutive matches.

Ciara Williams continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines for Dickinson, almost dropping a double-double on 22 points and nine rebounds. Williams is on a roll when it comes to boards, as she's now pulled down nine or more in the last five games she's played. Jazmine Hansley was another key player, putting up 11 points and seven steals.

Clear Lake has traveled a rocky road recently having lost seven of their last nine contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 15-17 record this season. As for Dickinson, the victory (which was their seventh in a row) raised their record to 22-8.

Clear Lake wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, a 64-32 defeat against Deer Park on the 25th. Dickinson has also already played their next match, a 70-34 win against Brazoswood on the 25th.
