Basketball Recap: All Saints Episcopal School Takes a Loss

All Saints Episcopal School was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their ninth straight defeat. They had to suffer through a 65-22 loss at the hands of the Whitharral Panthers. While losing is never fun, the Patriots can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 1383rd, while the Panthers are ranked 421st).

Despite the loss, All Saints Episcopal School saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Shelby Rivas posted nine points.

Leading Whitharral to victory were Paige Smith and Madi Chavez. Smith went 12 of 25 on her way to 27 points and seven steals, while Chavez went 8 of 13 on her way to 18 points in addition to six assists and five steals. That makes it nine consecutive games in which Smith has scored at least a third of Whitharral's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Sheridan Neal, who had ten points and three steals.

All Saints Episcopal School's defeat dropped their record down to 0-9. As for Whitharral, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 8-4.

All Saints Episcopal School wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, a 40-19 win against Crosbyton on the 14th. As for Whitharral, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 79-34 victory against Lockney on the 14th.
