Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but unfortunately for the Glendora Tartans, they weren't the ones who walked away with it. They took a 29-21 hit to the loss column at the hands of Huntington Beach on Friday. Glendora has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Glendora's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performance. Perhaps the best among them was Simon Zwick, who rushed for 77 yards and a touchdown on only six carries. Zwick was no stranger to the big play, taking off on a dash that went for 66 yards.
Huntington Beach's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Hunter Gray, who picked up 164 receiving yards and two touchdowns. Brady Edmunds was another key player, having thrown for 274 yards and two touchdowns.
Glendora's defeat dropped their record down to 6-5. As for Huntington Beach, their victory bumped their record up to 5-6.
Glendora does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Huntington Beach will be playing at home against Ontario Christian at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in California (Ontario Christian is ranked 134th, while Huntington Beach is ranked 149th).
