Unity Christian is 1-8 against the Purple Riders since February of 2017 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Monday. The Unity Christian Lions will be playing at home against the Arcola Purple Riders at 6:00 p.m. Unity Christian will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Illinois Rankings (they are ranked 614th, while the Purple Riders are ranked 201st).
Last Saturday, Unity Christian was beaten by the Maroons 52-20. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Unity Christian in their matchups with the Maroons: they've now lost three in a row.
Meanwhile, Arcola had already won three in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 39 points), and they went ahead and made it four on Thursday. They strolled past Cerro Gordo/Bement with points to spare, taking the game 48-33.
Arcola got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Kacie Sisk out in front who dropped a double-double on 20 points and 11 rebounds. Sisk hasn't dropped below two steals for six straight games. Kelsey Moore was another key contributor, scoring 12 points along with seven rebounds.
Unity Christian's defeat dropped their record down to 6-21. As for Arcola, they pushed their record up to 21-5 with that victory, which was their ninth straight on the road.
Unity Christian might still be hurting after the 57-35 loss they got from the Purple Riders in their previous meeting back in December of 2022. The match was all but decided by halftime, at which point Unity Christian was down 30-9.
