The Hillcrest Jaguars waltzed into Tuesday's match with five straight wins but they left with six. They claimed a resounding 92-37 victory over Central at home. Hillcrest's offense stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most points they've scored all season.
Leading Hillcrest to victory were Jordan Bonner and Robert Simpson. Bonner scored 15 points, while Simpson scored 20 points along with five rebounds. The contest was Simpson's eighth in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Damarion Watson , who scored six points.
Despite the loss, Central saw an underclassman step up: Christian Lawrence scored 18 points along with five rebounds. Lawrence continues to roll, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played.
Hillcrest's win bumped their record up to 8-2. As for Central, their loss was their 11th straight on the road dating back to last season, which bumped their record down to 1-7.
Hillcrest will face off against Monroe County at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Central will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Lanier at 6:30 p.m. on January 3, 2024.
