The Miller Grove Wolverines pushed their score all the way to 67 on Tuesday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They fell just short of Hapeville Charter by a score of 70-67. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game last Saturday (56), Miller Grove still had to take the loss.
Hapeville Charter's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Miguel Hannah jr. led the charge by scoring 16 points along with three steals. It was the first time this season that Hannah jr. scored 15 or more points. The team also got some help courtesy of Jonathan Goldson, who scored 13 points along with six rebounds and six steals.
This is the second loss in a row for Miller Grove and nudges their season record down to 2-18. As for Hapeville Charter, the win (which was their fifth in a row) raised their record to 12-10.
Miller Grove will head out on the road to challenge the Golden Bears at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. The timing is sure in Holy Innocents Episcopal's favor as the team sits on six straight wins at home while the Wolverines have been banged up by ten consecutive losses on the road dating back to last season. Hapeville Charter will take on the Panthers at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are closely ranked in Georgia (Southwest DeKalb is ranked 229th, while the Hornets are ranked 253rd).
