Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only North Duplin walked away with it. They walked away with a 35-27 victory over Pamlico County on Friday. The score was all tied up 14-14 at the break, but North Duplin was the better team in the second half.
It was another big night for Armwood, who rushed for 149 yards and two touchdowns on only 12 carries. Armwood has been hot recently, having posted 100 or more rushing yards the last eight times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Carell Phillips, who rushed for 78 yards and a touchdown on only 11 carries.
Meanwhile, Southeast Halifax put the finishing touches on their seventh blowout victory of the season on Friday. They claimed a resounding 66-0 victory over Union at home. The high flying offensive effort was a huge turnaround for Southeast Halifax's eight-point performance the match before.
Southeast Halifax's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Jaquavious Smith, who rushed for 162 yards and two touchdowns on only seven carries. Another player making a difference was Hudson, who rushed for 154 yards and a touchdown on only eight carries.
North Duplin is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 9-2 record this season. As for Southeast Halifax, their victory bumped their record up to an identical 9-2.
