Given their disadvantage in the MaxPreps state rankings, Memphis East should expect quite the challenge on Friday. Their bye week comes to an end as they meet up with Independence at 7:00 PM . Memphis East come in off of seven low-scoring performances in a row, a trend the team is obviously eager to reverse.
Things haven't been easy for Memphis East, and their match two weeks ago only extended their streak of losses to seven. They have to be aching after a bruising 0-31 loss to Fayette Ware two weeks ago.
Meanwhile, Independence got themselves on the board against Dickson County last Friday, but Dickson County never followed suit. Everything came up roses for Independence against Dickson County as the squad secured a 42-0 win. The Independence offense checked out after the first half but had enough points banked to take the game anyway.
Independence's victory lifted them to 4-4 while Memphis East's defeat dropped them down to 0-7. In their victory, Independence relied heavily on junior Ethan Cash, who passed for 303 yards and 4 touchdowns. Memphis East will need to find a way to minimize his impact if they want to win.
