Ponderosa has played every game this season on their home court, but they'll have to hit the road on Tuesday. They will square off against the Adams City Eagles at 7:00 p.m. One thing working in Ponderosa's favor is that they have posted big point totals every time they've taken the court this season.
Ponderosa has made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won three contests by 21 points or more this season. Everything went their way against Grand Junction on Saturday as Ponderosa made off with a 67-46 win. Given Ponderosa's advantage in MaxPreps' Colorado basketball rankings (they are ranked 30th, while Grand Junction is ranked 95th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Meanwhile, winning is just a little bit easier when you outrebound your opponent 13 to 5 on the offensive boards, a fact Adams City proved on Saturday. They took down The Academy 59-40.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Adams City to victory, but perhaps none more so than Xavier Copher, who scored 15 points along with 5 steals. Another player making a difference was Zak Ahmed, who scored 13 points.
Their wins lifted both teams to an identical 5-1.
Everything came up roses for Ponderosa against Adams City in their previous meeting back in December of 2022 as the squad secured a 100-62 win. One of the biggest obstacles trying to stand in the way of that victory was Adams City's Moe Shongolo, who scored 24 points. Now that he won't be playing on Tuesday, will it be that much easier for Ponderosa to walk away with another win? There's only one way to find out.
