The Sierra Timberwolves and the Rio Linda Knights squared off in some playoff action on Friday, but sadly the Sierra Timberwolves had to settle for second. They fell just short of the Knights by a score of 4-3. While losing is never fun, Sierra can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California soccer rankings (they are ranked 442nd, while Rio Linda is ranked 158th).
Sierra hit Rio Linda with a three-pronged attack, as the team got scores from
Diego Lopez,
Oswaldo Sanchez, and
Hugo Reyes.
Sierra's loss dropped their record down to 11-7-3. As for Rio Linda, the victory (which was their seventh in a row) raised their record to 19-4-2.
Sierra does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Rio Linda, they will square off against Pioneer at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Rio Linda is coming into the contest with three straight wins on the road, so Pioneer is out to stop a squad with plenty of momentum.
