Summer Creek hasn't had much luck against North Shore recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The Bulldogs are taking a road trip to square off against the Mustangs at 7:00 p.m. Both teams are coming into the contest red-hot, with Summer Creek sitting on three straight wins and North Shore on eight.
On Friday, Summer Creek was fully in charge, breezing past Kingwood 58-17. Considering the Bulldogs have won six matchups by more than 26 points this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.
Summer Creek's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Noah Spinks, who threw for 244 yards and three TDs while completing 72.4% of his passes. Trenton Thomas was in the mix too, providing the Bulldogs with two touchdowns.
Wins are hard to come by when you can't run the rock, something Summer Creek proved: they limited Kingwood to a paltry 1.7 yards per carry. The team can thank Savion James for the heroic effort on defense: he. Summer Creek didn't have any issues in that department, having averaged 6.6.
Special teams also deserves some recognition, posting 16 points in total. The biggest highlight from special teams (and perhaps the team as a whole) came courtesy of Thomas, who ran a punt back for a touchdown.
Meanwhile, North Shore strolled past King with points to spare on Friday, taking the game 42-27.
Summer Creek better keep an eye on Hezekiah Johnson. He was instrumental in North Shore's win, rushing for 187 yards and three scores on only 14 carries. Those 187 rushing yards gave Johnson a new career-high. Kaden Brandley also helped out as he racked up 105 rushing yards.
Summer Creek's record is now 8-1. As for North Shore, their record now sits at an identical 8-1.
Friday's game will pit two of the most dominant signal callers against one another: Spinks and Kaleb Maryland. Spinks just won't slow down this season and has thrown 27 touchdowns (and and only 3 picks) while averaging 263.4 passing yards per game. Maryland has been a dominant force too and has thrown 25 touchdowns while averaging 255.2 passing yards per game.
Summer Creek suffered a grim 35-10 defeat to North Shore in their previous meeting back in November of 2024. Thankfully for the Bulldogs, Kaleb Bailey (who rushed for 83 yards and a pair of TDs, and also threw for 175 yards and one touchdown while completing 78.6% of his passes) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result? There's only one way to find out.
