Northwestern and High Point are an even 5-5 against one another since May of 2017, but likely not for long. The Wildcats will host the Eagles at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. The two teams are sauntering into the matchup backed by comfortable wins in their prior games.
Northwestern's pitching crew heads into the contest hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Saturday. They put the hurt on Suitland with a sharp 21-0 win. The Wildcats have beaten the Rams the last nine times they've met, but they better watch out: this was the closest the Rams has come to flipping the script.
Yeuri Reyes Berihuete was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he struck out seven batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits (and only one walk). Reyes Berihuete was also stellar in the batter's box, getting on base in all five of his plate appearances with five stolen bases, four runs, and three RBI.
In other batting news, Elijah Miller was a standout: he got on base in four of his five plate appearances with three runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. Kyle Boozer-Strother was another key player, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with three RBI, two runs, and one double.
Northwestern always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .651. The last time their OBP was this high was back in March of 2025.
Meanwhile, High Point made easy work of Flowers on Thursday and carried off a 22-10 victory.
Walkis Brito was incredible, getting on base in four of his five plate appearances with three stolen bases, five RBI, and three runs. The team also got some help courtesy of Jhoiner Rodriguez, who got on base in three of his five plate appearances with four stolen bases, three runs, and one RBI.
Northwestern now has a winning record of 2-1. As for High Point, their win bumped their record up to 1-0.
Northwestern suffered a grim 18-6 defeat to High Point in their previous meeting back in April of 2025. Can the Wildcats avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
