After a string of four wins, the Keller Central Chargers's good fortune finally ran out on Friday. They lost to Keller on the road by a decisive 73-56 margin. While losing is never fun, Keller Central can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 410th, while the Indians are ranked 12th).
Several Chargers players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Sean Mays, who scored 14 points. Jordan Blair was another key contributor, scoring 21 points along with five rebounds.
Leading Keller to victory were Brooks Bahr and Steven Ramirez. Bahr dropped a double-double on 21 points and ten rebounds, while Ramirez shot 4-for-7 from beyond the arc and almost dropped a double-double on 24 points and nine rebounds. Ramirez is on a roll when it comes to points, as he's now scored 15 or more in the last 12 games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Quinn Estep, who scored six points along with four steals.
Keller Central's defeat dropped their record down to 11-15. As for Keller, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 13 of their last 14 contests, which provided a nice bump to their 20-5 record this season.
Keller Central will be playing in front of their home fans against the Eagles at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Keller, they will head out on the road to face off against the Dragons at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Southlake Carroll is on a six-game streak of home wins, the Indians a 12-game streak of away wins (dating back to last season)-- so someone will have to leave a streak behind on the court.
