Salem has enjoyed a two-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. They will take on the Brighton Bulldogs at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Hopefully Salem focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 11 on Tuesday.
Salem pushed their score all the way to 63, but even that wasn't enough to win. They fell to Milford 69-63. While losing is never fun, Salem can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Michigan basketball rankings (they are ranked 397th, while Milford is ranked 109th).
Even though the team lost, they still had their share of impressive performances. One of the most dominant came from Ryan Peters, who scored 22 points along with five assists. The matchup was his sixth in a row with at least ten points. Mitchell Robillard was another key contributor, scoring 17 points.
Even though they lost, Salem were working as a unit and finished the game with 13 assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.
Meanwhile, Brighton scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Friday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Denby 70-31 on the road. The win was just what Brighton needed coming off of a 67-45 defeat in their prior match.
Salem bumped their record down to 1-5 with that defeat, which was their third straight at home. That rough patch can't be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 60.7 points per game. As for Brighton, they now have a winning record of 3-2.
Salem was taken down by Brighton 67-39 in their previous meeting back in February. Can Salem avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
