After a string of eight wins, the Tri Titans's good fortune finally ran out on Friday. They lost to Winchester Community on the road by a decisive 62-48 margin. Tri was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Winchester Community apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in January of 2023.
When it comes to explaining why Tri lost, one person who can't be blamed is Josiah Cox. Despite the final result, he scored 22 points along with three steals. That was a full 45.8% of Tri's points, marking the 13th time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. Another player making a difference was Gracen Huffman, who scored 11 points along with two steals.
Tri's loss ended a five-game streak of away wins and brought them to 9-4. As for Winchester Community, the victory got them back to even at 8-8.
Tri won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against North Decatur at 7:30 p.m. on January 27th. Hopefully North Decatur focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 21 on Friday. As for Winchester Community, they will head out on the road to face off against Centerville at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. Hopefully Centerville focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 13 last Thursday.
