After flying high against the Tintic Miners on Friday, the Manila Mustangs came back down to earth. Manila fell to Wendover 44-38. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Manila in their matchups with Wendover: they've now lost five in a row.
Wendover found their leader in underclassman Millie Hicks, who dropped a double-double on 16 points and 13 rebounds. That makes it three consecutive games in which Hicks has scored at least a third of Wendover's points. Another player making a difference was Gaby Delgadillo, who scored eight points along with six rebounds and two blocks.
Manila has traveled a rocky road recently having lost three of their last four contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 12-9 record this season. As for Wendover, their win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 16-6.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Manila will take on Altamont at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. Manila is facing Altamont at the right time seeing as Altamont is stuck on a three-game losing streak. As for Wendover, they will stay at home for another game and welcome Rich at 4:00 p.m. on February 16th. Rich will roll in looking for their 13th straight victory, something Wendover surely won't give up without a fight.
