Even though the Bowie Jackrabbits scored an imposing 63 points on Thursday, the Liberty Christian Warriors still came out on top. Liberty Christian walked away with a 72-63 victory over Bowie. That result was just more of the same for these two, as Liberty Christian also won the last time the pair played back in December of 2019.
Liberty Christian got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Chuka Akpom out in front who scored 16 points along with six steals. The matchup was Akpom's fifth in a row with at least ten points. Brandon Lohmann was another key contributor, scoring 16 points along with three steals.
Bowie's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Andrew Sandhoff, who scored 21 points along with five rebounds. Sandhoff scored a full 33.3% of Bowie's points, the fourth time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. Another player making a difference was Brady Lawhorn, who scored eight points along with six rebounds.
Liberty Christian's victory bumped their record up to 6-15. As for Bowie, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 9-11.
Liberty Christian and Boyd will round out the year against one another at 3:30 p.m. on Thursday at. Bowie won't have much time to rest: their next match is against Gold-Burg at 9:30 a.m. on December 29, 2023. Gold-Burg is hoping to put an end to a three-game streak of away losses.
