Tarpon Springs scaled the state rankings by moving to 173 from 200 this week, the biggest jump in 5A District 8. The Spongers were able to move up by topping Anclote 31-0.
Lakewood took down Hudson 75-19 last week, the largest margin of any game.
Boca Ciega's Derrick Cook and Sirkendric Bedinnes led the league in both passing and receiving yards. 5-10 quarterback Cook has thrown for 1,095 yards this season, while Bedinnes has 39 catches for 575 yards. Michael Ford from Tarpon Springs leads the league in rushing with 1,244 yards.
The top two teams in the league will face off this week when first place Lakewood takes on second place Tarpon Springs. Last week, the Spartans topped the Cobras, while Ron Hawn's team beat the Sharks.
The Spongers' offense has scored 343 points this season, good for No. 1 in the league, while Lakewood has allowed only 135 on the year.
The top two defenses in the league will face off this season when Tarpon Springs takes on Cory Moore's team. The Spongers have allowed 253 points this season, while the Spartans have given up 135. Tarpon Springs allowed 0 points last week as it topped Anclote.
Lakewood led 5A District 8 in scoring this week by notching 75 points on Hudson.
