The Monmouth United Red Storm will face off against the Alleman Pioneers at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Monmouth United will be looking to extend their current four-game winning streak.
On Saturday, Monmouth United got the win against Biggsville West Central by a conclusive 17-2. The Red Storm might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won seven contests by nine runs or more this season.
Tanner Rogers looked comfortable as he struck out seven batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit (and only one walk).
At the plate, Nolan Jenks was a standout: he went 2-for-3 with four RBI, one run, and one double. That's the most RBI he has posted over his last 13 games. Another player making a difference was Ian Leffler, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with two RBI, one run, and one double.
Monmouth United always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .730. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Biggsville West Central only posted an OBP of .133.
Meanwhile, Alleman hadn't done well against Galesburg recently (they were 1-8 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Monday. The Pioneers came out on top against the Silver Streaks by a score of 9-5.
The team relied heavily on Truman Marner, who went 2-for-3 with one triple, one stolen base, and one run. The team also got some help courtesy of Gavin Wilburn, who went 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI.
Monmouth United's win was their 12th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 16-3. Those home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.2 runs over those games. As for Alleman, they are on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 14-6 record this season.
Tuesday's contest will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Monmouth United hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .375. However, it's not like Alleman struggles in that department as they've averaged .330. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Everything went Monmouth United's way against Alleman in their previous meeting back in April of 2024, as Monmouth United made off with a 14-2 win. Will the Red Storm repeat their success, or do the Pioneers have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
