The Nampa Christian Trojans will head out on the road to take on the New Plymouth Pilgrims at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. Nampa Christian will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more runs each game than the last.
On Wednesday, Nampa Christian got the win against Vision by a conclusive 14-1. The victory continues a trend for the Trojans in their matchups with Vision: they've now won seven in a row.
Sydney Kinzler made a splash while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run over five innings pitched. The dominant performance also gave her a new career-high in strikeouts (three). She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with two runs and one RBI.
In other batting news, Nampa Christian got a massive performance out of Myranda Van Vliet, who got on base in all four of her plate appearances with three stolen bases, three runs, and two RBI. With that strong performance, Van Vliet is now averaging an impressive 1.1 stolen bases per game. Another player making a difference was Chloe Shook, who went 3-for-4 with two stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI.
Nampa Christian was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .552. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Vision only posted a batting average of .353.
Meanwhile, New Plymouth came up short against Marsing on Wednesday and fell 10-7. The Pilgrims have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Makiah Weideman spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered four earned (and six unearned) runs on seven hits and racked up 14 Ks.
At the plate, New Plymouth saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Adrianna Hartzell, who went 2-for-4 with one triple and one RBI. Kadence Withers was another, earning three runs and one stolen base.
Nampa Christian's record now sits at 13-3. As for New Plymouth, their loss dropped their record down to 15-6.
Friday's contest might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Nampa Christian has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .450. However, it's not like New Plymouth struggles in that department as they've averaged .431. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Nampa Christian came out on top in a nail-biter against New Plymouth when the teams last played on April 4th, sneaking past 3-1. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Trojans since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
