Volunteer has relied on a stalwart pitchers averaging 2.5 runs allowed per game, but that average took a hit on Thursday. Everything went their way against the Greeneville Greene Devils as they made off with a 23-10 win. Considering the Falcons have won seven games by more than eight runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.

Volunteer got a big performance out of Zetta Smith, who scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-4. Emersyn Templeton also deserves some recognition as she snagged her first stolen base of the season.

Smith wasn't the only one making solid contact: Volunteer kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 19 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.

Volunteer's victory bumped their record up to 8-2. As for Greeneville, they have been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 8-10 record this season.

Volunteer has already played their next contest, a 12-0 win against Cherokee on the 4th. As for Greeneville, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next game, a 23-10 victory against North Greene on the 4th.
