There's no place like home for the West Johnston Wildcats, who bounced back after a tough loss on the road last Tuesday. They walked away with a 70-62 victory over Fike on Friday. Having run the score up that high, both teams probably have some extra defensive drills coming up.
It was another big night for Kameron Taylor, who scored 22 points along with six rebounds and five assists. He hasn't dropped below two steals for five straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Dionta'e Williams, who scored 12 points along with three steals.
Kameron Barbee and William Monk certainly did their best on Friday to avoid the loss. Barbee dropped a double-double on 18 points and 13 rebounds, while Monk dropped a double-double on 22 points and ten rebounds. Barbee also grabbed two+ steals for the first time this season. Dylan Skinner was another key contributor, scoring nine points along with five rebounds.
West Johnston pushed their record up to 8-10 with that victory, which was their third straight at home. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 70.3 points per game. As for Fike, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost seven of their last eight matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-13 record this season.
West Johnston will be playing in front of their home fans against Southern Wayne at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. West Johnston knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past nine matchups -- so hopefully Southern Wayne likes a good challenge. As for Fike, they will head out on the road to face off against South Johnston at 7:15 p.m. on Tuesday. One thing working in South Johnston's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last three matchups.
