The Annandale Atoms's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Tuesday after their sixth straight loss. They took a serious blow against Herndon, falling 66-34. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest defeat Annandale has suffered since December 13, 2023.
Despite the defeat, Annandale saw an underclassman step up: Ava Sewall scored 16 points along with eight rebounds and four steals. That was a full 47.1% of Annandale's points, marking the third time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Susan Aburish, who scored 11 points.
Annandale has not been sharp recently, as they've lost eight of their last nine matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-12 record this season. As for Herndon, their win ended a six-game drought at home dating back to last season and bumped them up to 1-10.
Annandale will take on Justice at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. Justice is no doubt hoping to put an end to a four-game streak of away losses. As for Herndon, they will head out on the road to take on Yorktown at 7:30 p.m. on Monday.
