Having just played yesterday, the McLeod Longhorns will jump right back in to play the Tom Bean Tomcats at 12:30 p.m. on Thursday. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as McLeod comes in on 21 and Tom Bean on five.
McLeod has made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won 12 matches by 20 points or more this season. They blew past Miller Grove 70-37 on the road. Given McLeod's advantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 291st, while Miller Grove is ranked 1471st), the result on Wednesday wasn't entirely unexpected.
Tom Bean has made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won eight games by 26 points or more this season. They simply couldn't be stopped on Wednesday as they easily beat Bowie 75-38 on the road. With Tom Bean ahead 47-18 at the half, the match was all but over already.
Tom Bean had a senior duo take command as CJ Richter scored 18 points along with eight rebounds and five assists and Branson Ashlock dropped a double-double on 13 points and 11 rebounds. Richter has been hot recently, having posted eight or more rebounds the last four times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Brody Pearson, who scored six points along with seven rebounds.
McLeod's victory bumped their record up to 21-0. As for Tom Bean, they have been performing well recently as they've won eight of their last ten matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 13-6 record this season.
McLeod didn't have too much breathing room in their match against Tom Bean in their previous meeting back in December of 2022, but they still walked away with a 41-37 victory. Does McLeod have another victory up their sleeve, or will Tom Bean turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
