Two dominant in Nojus Zalenekas and Cooper Hautau are getting ready to go toe-to-toe. The Menaul Panthers will head out on the road to square off against the Bosque Bobcats at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.
Last Tuesday, Menaul lost to Belen at home by a decisive 68-50 margin.
Meanwhile, Bosque pushed their score all the way to 62 on Tuesday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They fell 73-62 to Robertson.
Despite their loss, Bosque saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Hautau, who dropped a double-double on 20 points and 15 rebounds, was perhaps the best of all. Hautau is on a roll when it comes to points, as he's now scored 15 or more in the last four games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Kyle Morris, who scored 16 points along with five assists.
Even though they lost, Bosque were working as a unit and finished the game with 20 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Robertson only racked up ten assists.
Menaul now has a losing record at 6-7. As for Bosque, their defeat dropped their record down to 8-5.
Menaul beat Bosque 64-55 in their previous meeting back in January of 2023. The rematch might be a little tougher for Menaul since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
