The Marmaton Valley Wildcats lost against the Humboldt Cubs back in December of 2022, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. Marmaton Valley suffered a rough 62-36 loss at the hands of Humboldt. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Marmaton Valley has scored all season.
Humboldt's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Colden Cook, who scored 15 points along with nine rebounds and three steals. Those nine rebounds set a new season-high mark for Cook. The team also got some help courtesy of Sam Hull, who scored 13 points along with seven rebounds and three steals.
Marmaton Valley now has a losing record at 2-3. As for Humboldt, their win was their 11th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 5-0.
Marmaton Valley will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Uniontown at 7:30 p.m. on January 2, 2024. As for Humboldt, their homestand continues as they prepare to take on Neodesha. Neodesha will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Kansas Rankings (they are ranked 175th, while Humboldt is ranked 34th).
