The Vanguard Knights posted their biggest win since November 30, 2023 on Wednesday. They breezed by Citrus on the road to the tune of 59-12. With Vanguard ahead 27-5 at the half, the matchup was all but over already.
Vanguard's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Sylnya Roberson, who scored ten points along with eight rebounds and six blocks. Roberson is absolutely dominating the block category: she's posted at least two every time she's taken the court this season. Another player making a difference was Aniyah Hope, who scored nine points along with 16 rebounds and two blocks.
Vanguard's win ended a six-game drought on the road and puts them at 3-12. As for Citrus, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-11.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Vanguard will challenge P.K. Yonge at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. P.K. Yonge presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Vanguard in Florida (P.K. Yonge is ranked 72nd, while Vanguard is ranked 453rd). Citrus won't have much time to rest: their next match is against Weeki Wachee at 5:00 p.m. on January 18th. Weeki Wachee is strutting with some offensive muscle, as they've averaged 52.1 points per game.
