Roanoke Rapids has gone a perfect 9-0 against Rocky Mount recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Tuesday. Madison Jones made a splash while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out 14 batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off four hits. That's the most strikeouts she has posted since back in March. She was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run while going 2-for-3.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Madelyn Bell, who went 3-for-4 with three runs, three RBI, and one triple. Those three RBI gave her a new career-high. Kyla Odom was another key player, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 2-for-3.
Roanoke Rapids always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .542. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Northern Nash only posted an OBP of .207.
Meanwhile, Rocky Mount was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their 29th straight loss dating back to last season. They came up short against Nash Central, falling 19-0.
Roanoke Rapids pushed their record up to 10-3 with the win, which was their fifth straight on the road. The road victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.8 runs on average over those games. As for Rocky Mount, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-9.
