Andress is a perfect 10-0 against El Paso since October of 2015 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Friday. The Eagles will head out to challenge the Tigers at 7:00 p.m. One thing working in Andress' favor is that they have posted at least 31 points in their last seven contests.
Andress is probably headed into the game with a chip on their shoulder considering Del Valle just ended the team's six-game winning streak on Friday. They fell 56-49 to the Conquistadores. The Eagles were up 42-28 in the third quarter but couldn't hold on to the lead.
The match pitted two dominant signal callers against one another in Jamari Milton and Jake Fette. Fette had a great game and rushed for 236 yards and four touchdowns while picking up 9.1 yards per carry. Meanwhile, Milton was balling out in the loss, throwing for 206 yards and a pair of TDs while completing 75% of his passes, and also rushing for 61 yards and one score on only five carries.
Meanwhile, El Paso didn't have too much trouble with Horizon on Friday as they won 21-7.
Andress better keep an eye on Ledger Merritt. He was instrumental in El Paso's win, rushing for 127 yards and a pair of touchdowns, while also picking up 31 receiving yards.
El Paso's defense made their presence known, laying out Mauricio Payan three times. In fact, those sacks all came courtesy of defensive juggernaut Jude Gallardo. El Paso is 3-1 when Gallardo posts one or more sacks, but 0-4 otherwise.
Andress' loss was their first in the district, dropping their district record down to 5-1 and their overall record down to 6-2. As for El Paso, their victory ended a five-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 3-5.
Friday's matchup might be decided in the trenches. Andress has been unstoppable on the ground this season, having averaged 221.2 rushing yards per game. It's a different story for El Paso, though, as they've been averaging only 95.8 rushing yards. How will they fare against such a dominant running game?
Everything came up roses for Andress against El Paso when the teams last played back in November of 2024, as the team secured a 34-6 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Eagles since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
