Basketball Recap: Dynamic Duo of Corey Allen and Mason Salazar Lead Ontario Christian to Victory

Ontario Christian had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 13 points) and they went ahead and made it three on Thursday. They wrapped up 2024 with a 58-43 win over the San Bernardino Cardinals.

Leading Ontario Christian to victory were Mason Salazar and Corey Allen. Salazar went 6 for 13 on his way to 16 points and five steals, while Allen dropped a double-double on 12 points and 12 boards. Those 12 points gave Allen a new career-high. Cole Jones was another key player, putting up 11 points along with five assists and five boards.

Ontario Christian was working as a unit and finished the game with 14 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as San Bernardino only posted five assists.

When it comes to explaining why San Bernardino lost, don't look at George McEwen. Despite the final result, he posted 19 points. McEwen's evening made it seven games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of RJ McCollum, who had eight points in addition to five rebounds and three steals.

Ontario Christian's record is now 7-9. As for San Bernardino, they moved to 9-7 with that loss, which also ended their five-game winning streak.

Ontario Christian didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 63-49 victory against Eisenhower on the 27th. As for San Bernardino, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, a 50-47 defeat against Valley Christian on the 27th.
