Basketball Recap: Austin's Win on Tuesday Extends Winning Streak to Four

Austin had already won three in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 26 points) and they went ahead and made it four on Tuesday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against the Bowie Bears, sneaking past 62-59. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Panthers have posted against the Bears since February 11, 2022.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Austin to victory, but perhaps none more so than TJ Walker, who went 7-for-12 on his way to 18 points in addition to five boards and four blocks. That's the most blocks Walker has posted since back in December of 2023. Anakin Torres also deserves some recognition as he posted his first block of the season.

Despite the loss, Bowie still got an impressive performance from Johan Camacho, who dropped a double-double with 25 points and 11 rebounds. The matchup was Camacho's 17th in a row with at least 15 points. Derek Montanez was another key player, going 5-for-8 en route to 11 points.

Austin's victory bumped their record up to 17-11. As for Bowie, their record now sits at 15-13.

Austin didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 44-30 loss against San Elizario on the 18th. As for Bowie, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, a 71-52 defeat against Ysleta on the 17th.
