The Union County Yellowjackets fought the good fight in their overtime match against the Woodruff Wolverines on Friday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell 75-67 to the Wolverines. Having run the score up that high, both teams might be doing some extra defensive drills very soon.
Despite the loss, Union County had strong showings from Keishawn Gibson, who scored 24 points along with six rebounds and two steals, and Eric Gray, who scored 17 points along with five steals. Gibson has been hot recently, having posted 15 or more points the last four times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Omarion Feaster, who scored two points along with seven assists and six rebounds.
Union County's loss dropped their record down to 7-13. As for Woodruff, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 12-8 record this season.
Union County will stay at home for another game and welcome Clinton at 7:45 p.m. on January 23rd. Clinton has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 306 points over their last five matchups. Woodruff on the road again on Tuesday and play against Chester at 7:30 p.m. on January 23rd. Chester is coming into the contest on a four-game losing streak.
