Football Recap: Strom Thurmond Piles Up the Points Against Silver Bluff

Strom Thurmond never let their opponents score on Friday. They really took it to the Silver Bluff Bulldogs for the full four quarters, racking up a 50-0 victory. The Rebels have beaten the Bulldogs the last five times they've met, but they better watch out: this was the closest the Bulldogs has come to flipping the script.

Strom Thurmond's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Deonte Phillips led the charge by rushing for 67 yards and two touchdowns on only seven carries. That's the most rushing touchdowns Phillips has posted since back in September of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Bri'Shaun Lee, who threw for 138 yards and four TDs while completing 76.9% of his passes.

Strom Thurmond's win bumped their record up to 2-0. As for Silver Bluff, their loss dropped their record down to 1-1.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Strom Thurmond will have some time to savor their victory since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on North Augusta at 7:30 p.m. on September 12. As for Silver Bluff, they will square off against Hampton County at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
