The Canyon Comanches waltzed into their match on Friday with seven straight wins but they left with eight. They managed a 54-50 win over Villa Park. Given Canyon's advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 39th, while Villa Park is ranked 208th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Canyon's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Josh Goodall, who scored 20 points along with six rebounds. Goodall hasn't dropped below 15points for three straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Staf Yilmazturk, who scored ten points along with two blocks.
Canyon is on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last ten matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 16-4 record this season. As for Villa Park, their defeat dropped their record down to 11-11.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Canyon will take on Yorba Linda at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Villa Park, they will be playing at home against Foothill at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Foothill is looking to tack on another W to their three-game streak on the road.
