After flying high against the Charlotte Lab School Lions last Wednesday, the Carolina International Comets came back down to earth. Carolina International ended up on the wrong side of a tough 86-63 walloping at the hands of United Faith Christian Academy on Tuesday. While losing is never fun, Carolina International can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 224th, while United Faith Christian Academy is ranked 30th).
Several Comets players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Michael Davis, who scored 19 points along with three blocks. Davis scored a full 30.2% of Carolina International's points, the third time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. Rodney Fullenwider was another key contributor, scoring 14 points.
Carolina International bumped their record down to 4-5 with that defeat, which was their eighth straight on the road dating back to last season. As for United Faith Christian Academy, their victory bumped their record up to 9-3.
Carolina International will head out on the road to face off against Bradford Prep at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. United Faith Christian Academy will be home for the holidays to greet Covenant Day at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully Covenant Day focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 13 on Friday.
