The North Edgecombe Warriors entered their tilt with the Northampton County Jaguars with seven consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with eight. North Edgecombe managed a 72-66 win over Northampton County on Monday. Having run the score up that high, both teams might be doing some extra defensive drills very soon.
LaTraviun Parker was his usual excellent self, dropping a double-double on 18 points and ten rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points he has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Dontrevious Whitaker, who dropped a double-double on 17 points and 11 rebounds.
Despite the defeat, Northampton County had strong showings from Jiyoun Williams, who scored 22 points along with seven rebounds and two steals, and Jamari Blake, who scored 17 points along with five rebounds and two steals. Williams is on a roll when it comes to points, as he's now scored 15 or more in the last four games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Torrey Harris, who scored ten points along with two steals.
North Edgecombe's victory was their sixth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 9-2. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 81.3 points per game. As for Northampton County, their defeat ended a four-game streak of away wins and brought them to 8-3.
North Edgecombe won't have much time to rest: their next game is against KIPP P at 7:30 p.m. on January 16th. KIPP P will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps North Carolina Rankings (they are ranked 379th, while North Edgecombe is ranked 150th). As for Northampton County, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Weldon at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
