The Andover Trojans came tearing into Friday's contest with four straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 25 points) and they left with even more momentum. They snuck past Salina Central with a 65-59 victory. Given Andover's advantage in MaxPreps' Kansas basketball rankings (they are ranked 41st, while Salina Central is ranked 164th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Andover's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Blake Rucker, who scored 25 points. Quenci Bradford was another key contributor, scoring 15 points along with six assists and six rebounds.
Andover pushed their record up to 9-3 with that victory, which was their fifth straight on the road. As for Salina Central, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 5-7.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Andover will take on Eisenhower at 7:30 a.m. on Tuesday. Eisenhower has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games. As for Salina Central, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Arkansas City at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
