Wheatland-Grinnell has enjoyed the comforts of home their last two games, but now they'll head out on the road. They will take on the Oakley Plainsmen at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Hopefully Wheatland-Grinnell focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 23 on Tuesday.
Wheatland-Grinnell suffered their biggest loss since December 1, 2023 on Tuesday. They had to suffer through a rough 69-40 loss at the hands of Weskan. Wheatland-Grinnell found out winning isn't easy when you're outrebounded 18 to 4 on offense.
Even though the team lost, they still had their share of impressive performances. One of the most dominant came from Riley Tuttle, who scored 16 points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points he has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Daniel Mason, who scored six points along with two blocks.
Even though they lost, Wheatland-Grinnell were working as a unit and finished the game with ten assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.
Meanwhile, Oakley came up short against Smith Center on Thursday and fell 50-37.
Wheatland-Grinnell bumped their record down to 1-8 with that loss, which was their third straight at home. Those losses could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 29.3 points per game. As for Oakley, their loss dropped their record down to 2-8.
Wheatland-Grinnell was dealt a bruising 73-39 loss at the hands of Oakley in their previous matchup back in January of 2023. Can Wheatland-Grinnell avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
