The Castle View Sabercats will head out on the road to square off against the Chaparral Wolverines at 4:15 p.m. on Wednesday. The two teams are strolling into their contests after big wins in their previous games.
Castle View lost a heartbreaker the last time they played Highlands Ranch, but it's fair to say they got their revenge given the result of Monday's game. The Sabercats blew past the Falcons 10-2 on Monday. The Sabercats not only won on Monday, but they posted their biggest win since May 17, 2025 (when they won 15-1).

Cole Cates made a splash no matter where he played. He pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Castle View is 4-2 when he allows at most three earned runs, but 2-8 otherwise. Cates was even better at the plate, going 2-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. That home run marked the first that he has launched this season.
In other pitching news, Castle View got a great performance from Paxton Mapes as he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit over 4.2 innings pitched.
Back at the plate, the team relied heavily on Breck Johnson, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs, two RBI, and one double. Those runs were his first of the season. Another player making a difference was Tyler Feldhake, who went 2-for-4 with two runs and one stolen base.
Castle View kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 14 hits. That's the most hits they've posted since back in May of 2025.
Meanwhile, Chaparral faced Ponderosa in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Monday. The Wolverines put the hurt on the Mustangs with a sharp 9-3 win. Considering the Wolverines have won seven matchups by more than five runs this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new.
Kayne Morris tossed a big game, striking out eight batters over six innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off three hits (and only one walk). He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in four consecutive appearances.
At the plate, Carter Adams was incredible, going 1-for-2 with one home run, two runs, and one stolen base. Beckett Bacon was another key player, going 1-for-4 with two RBI, one run, and one double.
The victory made it two in a row for Chaparral and bumps their season record up to 11-5. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 8 runs in those games. As for Castle View, their record now sits at 6-10.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Wednesday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Castle View has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 7.2 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Chaparral struggles in that department as they've been averaging 6.8 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
Everything went Castle View's way against Chaparral in their previous matchup back in April of 2025, as Castle View made off with an 8-2 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Sabercats since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
