Basketball Recap: Teron Powell's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Indian Creek over Chapelgate Christian Academy

Indian Creek was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their fourth straight loss. They were three points away from ending the streak, but they lost a 52-49 heartbreaker at the hands of the Chapelgate Christian Academy Yellowjackets. The contest was a 21-21 toss-up at halftime, but the Eagles couldn't quite close it out.

Indian Creek's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Teron Powell, who posted 16 points. Those 16 points gave Powell a new career-high. Kyle Harvin was another key player, putting up 15 points.

Chapelgate Christian Academy's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Landen Custis, who had 15 points and eight rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Bryson Milledge, who went 5 of 9 on his way to 13 points.

Indian Creek's loss dropped their record down to 4-18. As for Chapelgate Christian Academy, their win ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 8-13.

Coincidentally, both will both be playing Archbishop Curley the next time they take the court. Chapelgate Christian Academy will host Archbishop Curley at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday, while Indian Creek will head out to face them at 5:30 p.m. on February 5th.
