The Salisbury Dragons lost against the Greenwood Mennonite Flames back in January of 2023, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Monday. Salisbury took a 45-26 bruising from Greenwood Mennonite. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Salisbury in their matchups with Greenwood Mennonite: they've now lost five in a row.
Despite the defeat, Salisbury had strong showings from Allie Collins, who scored 12 points along with eight rebounds and four steals, and Abby Willis, who scored two points along with six rebounds. That was a full 46.2% of Salisbury's points, marking the third time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points.
Laci Mast continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines for Greenwood Mennonite, scoring 18 points along with two steals. Mast is absolutely dominating the steal category: she's posted at least two every time she's taken the court this season. Another player making a difference was Carli Welfley, who scored five points along with six rebounds.
Salisbury bumped their record down to 1-12 with that loss, which was their fourth straight at home. As for Greenwood Mennonite, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won eight of their last nine matches, which provided a nice bump to their 10-2 record this season.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Salisbury will challenge Arcadia at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Greenwood Mennonite's road trip will continue as they head out to face Faith Baptist School at 4:30 p.m. on January 25th. The two teams have allowed few points on average, (Faith Baptist School: 21.4, Greenwood Mennonite: 20.3) so any points scored will be well earned.
