The Albuquerque Bulldogs will head out to square off against the Los Lunas Tigers at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Both teams are coming into the contest red-hot, with Albuquerque sitting on three straight wins and Los Lunas on six.
Albuquerque is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of New Mexico's top teams: Dexter, who was ranked 15th at the time (Albuquerque was ranked 23rd). The Bulldogs walked away with a 9-6 victory over the Demons on Friday.
Yaslene Jimenez made a splash no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, tossing 2.2 innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. She has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than one walk in six consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 3-for-4 with two runs and one RBI.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Naiyoki Wright, who went 2-for-4 with four RBI, one run, and one double. Those four RBI gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Adrianna Gomez, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with one home run.
Albuquerque kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least 11 hits in three consecutive matches.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Los Lunas). Their pitcher stepped up to hand Rio Grande a 19-0 shutout on Friday. The Tigers might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won ten games by six runs or more this season.
Like Albuquerque, Los Lunas also got a great game from a two-way player: Ashley Baca. On the mound, she tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Baca was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and two RBI.
In other batting news, Jaslene Duran and Natalie Madrid did most of the damage at the plate: Duran went 3-for-4 with two stolen bases, three runs, and three RBI, while Madrid went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, three runs, and three RBI. Halie Delgado was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one double.
Los Lunas pushed their record up to 17-6 with the win, which was their fourth straight on the road. Those road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 13.5 runs over those games. As for Albuquerque, their record now sits at 14-8.
Tuesday's contest might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Albuquerque has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .530. However, it's not like Los Lunas struggles in that department as they've averaged .454. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Albuquerque might still be hurting after the 18-8 defeat they got from Los Lunas in their previous matchup two weeks ago. Can the Bulldogs avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
