The Farmington Knights will head out on the road to face off against the Festus Tigers at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
Last Friday, Farmington ended up a good deal behind Poplar Bluff and lost 28-14. That means Farmington has now suffered back-to-back defeats.
Despite their defeat, Farmington saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Kaesen Mcclain, who rushed for 69 yards and a touchdown, was perhaps the best of all.
Meanwhile, Festus was fully in charge on Friday, breezing past Pacific 49-13 at home. The victory made it back-to-back wins for Festus.
Hayden Bates was a one-man wrecking crew for Festus as he rushed for 240 yards and three touchdowns on only 15 carries. Bates was no stranger to the big play, turning on the jets for a run that went for 66 yards. Avery Edwards was another key contributor, rushing for 108 yards and three touchdowns on only six carries.
Festus' victory bumped their season record to 5-2 while Farmington's defeat dropped theirs to 4-3.
Friday's match might be decided on the ground as these two are both standouts in the run game. Farmington has been unstoppable on the ground this season, having averaged 225.6 rushing yards per game. However, it's not like Festus struggles in that department as they've been even better at 256 per game. It's looking like Friday's match might have some serious battles in the trenches.
Farmington might still be hurting after the 41-20 defeat they got from Festus in their previous matchup back in October of 2022. Can Farmington avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
